When I lived in Phoenix I became quite attached to Southwest Airlines. They seemed to really “have it together.” I always had the feeling that the customer really was FIRST in their company.
Now I have moved and have to drive four hours to get on a Southwest flight. So far, I have opted out of that and flown other airlines. But Southwest still keeps in touch. After all, I AM one of their customers!
Southwest’s most recent newsletter talked of a new “Green Plane.” No, they are not painting it green, they are making several changes in this plane to make it more environmentally friendly. Carpeting, seat covers, life vest pouch, aisle rub strips and other things have been examined and ways have been found to make them more energy efficient.
Southwest also continues to work on improving their recycling, conserving water, saving energy, and reducing noise. They have certainly taken on the responsibility of Environmental Stewardship.
I did not research to see what other airlines are doing, but hopefully they are also examining their planes, their offices, their methods and finding ways to reduce, recycle, or reuse.
You may or may not be interested in reading the details about Southwest’s move to be more environmentally friendly, but I offer you the opportunity.
